Meet unsung hero Septima Poinsette Clark, a pioneer in grassroots citizenship education! Clark was born May 3, 1898 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of a former slave and laundry woman. She graduated from secondary school in 1916, passed her teacher's exam, and taught at a black school on Johns Island outside of
